Generation of endochondral bone tissue on ceramic scaffolds using mouse embryonic stem cells

This bone tissue are generated based on endochondral ossification. These cartilage tissue-engineered constructs (CTECs), can then be transplanted in-vivo to form bone-like tissue. The authors conclude that formation of cartilage template prior to transplantation is required for bone formation in vivo.
