Generation of stratified neural retina and optic cup structures from human embryonic stem cells

This protocol describes a method to form optic cup structures by self-organization of differentiated human embryonic stem cells (hESC). Differentiated hESC form a thick multi-layered neural retina tissue which curves in an apically convex manner and contains both rods and cones.
