Generation of retinal pigment epithelium from embryonic stem cells via spherical neural masses

This protocol describes a method to generate retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, via the formation of embryoid bodies which differentiate into spherical neural masses and cystic structures. These cystic structures are then isolated and differentiated into RPE cells on matrigel-coated culture plates.
