Generation of nephrogenic intermediate mesoderm from human embryonic stem cells

This protocol describes a method for generation of intermediate mesoderm cells from human pluripotent stem cells. The derived cells can be further differentiated into renal lineage cells, by several methods, such as treatment with WNT3A+BMP7, co-culture with dissociated mouse embryonic kidneys, and aggregation in suspension cultures. This protocol describes differentiation by addition of WNT3A and BMP7 to the culture medium.
