Non-small cell lung tumor samples (n=46) were compared with control lung samples (n=45). Tumor samples were taken from primary malignant lung tumor of non-treated patients, by excision of a fragment of tumor mass (>100mg) during surgery.  Normal tissue samples (n=45, >500 mg) were taken from clinically tumor-free quadrants in the resected specimen, as distant as possible from the tumor, and were histologically analyzed to guarantee the complete absence of epithelial tumor cells. Some of the tumors were adenocarcinoma and some were squamous cell carcinoma.
