Corneal Endothelium

Eye.CrE
The corneal endothelium consists of a single layer of cells expressing membrane fluid pumps that actively move fluid from the stroma back into the anterior chamber of the eye. Dysfunction of corneal endothelial cells can lead to corneal blindness, the second leading cause of visual impairment.

Corneal endothelial cells are unique endothelial cells, as they are originated from neural crest cells.
