Multipotent lung progenitor cells can be first visualized by in situ hybridization as a group of Nkx2.1-expressing endodermal cells in the prospective lung/tracheal region of the foregut, at ~E9.


Developmental time of multipotent lung progenitor cells is at 22 somite stage, day 28 in humans.
