Mucus-producing Cells (RB)

The number of goblet cells is low in the mouse, when compared to human, but increases dramatically in response to airway allergens and certain cytokines (e.g., IL-13) and upon downregulation of Foxa2. Mucus-producing cells can be directly derived from Clara cells, but other origins are possible.
