Uncinate process

Pnc.UnP

The head of pancreas is located within the curve of the duodenum. An elongated portion of the caudal portion of the head is called the uncinate process. Unlike most of the pancreatic head, which is of dorsal-bud origin, the uncinate process develops from the ventral pancreatic bud. The uncinate process has an orientation toward the left and is triangular-shaped.
