4D20.8 PureStem™-derived chondrocytes for treatment of osteochondral defects

4D20.8 PureStem™ progenitor cells were formulated in RGD-coupled alginate hydrogel and induced to differentiate in vitro into chondrocytes. The differentiated cells were then inserted into a femoral hind knee lesion. After 4 weeks, histochemical analysis revealed the formation of bone in the subchondral space. In addition, Safranin-O-positive cells stained positive for collagen II at their articular surface.
