MPCs, mesenchymal precursor cells for degenerative disc disease

Mesenchymal precursor cells (MPCs) are perivascular cells found in all vascularized tissues in the body and give rise to all the mesenchymal lineage stem cells in the tissues in which they reside. These are isolated by Mesoblast's proprietary manufacturing process. MPCs are mixed with a hyaluronic acid carrier and injected to achieve intervertebral disc repair in degenerative disc disease. A single low-dose MPC injection resulted in reduced lower back pain and improved function and disc stability with no cell-related serious adverse events.
