JACC®, cultured cartilage for chondral lesion

JACC® are cartilage cells obtained from a cartilage biopsy of the patient's own knee joint. The cells are then cultivated in atelocollagen, a gel-like material, before being implanted into the chondral lesion. Transplanting the cultured chondrocytes in the form of a soft but solid material, reduces the risk of their leakage after implantation and is beneficial for the even distribution of chondrocytes within the defect. Transplantation eliminated locking of the knee and reduced pain in all patients; moreover, clinical scores significantly improved and promoted restoration of the articular cartilage of the knee.
