Mesendo, stem cell combination for treatment of limb ischemia

Mesendo is a combination of mesenchymal stem cells and endothelial progenitor cells, derived from mononuclear cells. The cells are both derived from the bone marrow of the treated patient, and are expanded ex vivo before being returned to the patient. Mesendo is used for the treatment of critical limb ischemia. Use of the stem cell combination product was safe and feasible, without any adverse effects. In addition, treatment increased the limb’s blood flow and improved claudication symptoms of limb ischemia. There was an improvement or complete healing in patients with chronic ischemic ulcers and a decrease in use of analgesics.
