StrataGraft®, skin substitute for burns

StrataGraft® skin tissue is a stratified epithelial tissue composed of a living dermal matrix (containing dermal fibroblasts) overlaid with human epidermal cells (NIKS® cells). The product is indicated for first-line treatment of burn wounds, until autografts are prepared, as well as for other complex skin defects. NIKS® is a spontaneously immortalized human keratinocyte cell line grown under standard operating procedures (SOPs). StrataGraft products are virus-free, non-tumorigenic, and offer batch-to-batch genetic consistency. StrataGraft tissue is well-tolerated and not acutely immunogenic. Its performance is comparable to cadaver allografts applied for the temporary management of complex skin defects.

StrataGraft® Skin Substitute was granted FDA orphan drug designation.
