PLX-PAD, placental-derived mesenchymal-like stromal cells for muscle disorders
PLX-PAD are mesenchymal-like adherent stromal cells derived from full-term placentas. PLX-PAD are used in treatment of muscle trauma resulting from total hip arthroplasty and have been shown to induce improvement in regeneration of the skeletal muscle tissue and consequentially improve muscle function. Treatment demonstrated both safety and efficacy. Patients treated with PLX-PAD demonstrated improvement in maximal voluntary isometric contraction force and muscle volume of the gluteal muscle six months post-surgery with the 150 x10^6 dose being the best.
