Dental pulp stem cell-derived islet clusters for treating diabetes

The aim of the study is to explore the therapeutic potential of islet-like cell clusters (ICCs) derived from stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED), a unique population of dental pulp stem cells. ICCs were encapsulated and subcutaneously transplanted into streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice. At two weeks post-transplantation, normal blood and urine glucose levels were achieved.
