Adipose-derived stem cells (The University of Manchester)

Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) are isolated from adult Sprague-Dawley rats. Cells possess osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation potential.

Visceral fat surrounding the stomach and intestines was carefully dissected and minced and then enzymatically dissociated using collagenase type I. The cell mixture was passed through a 70-μm filter to remove undissociated tissue, neutralized by the addition of Modified Eagle Medium (α-MEM) supplemented with foetal bovine serum (FBS, 10% ), and centrifuged. The cell pellet was resuspended in MEM medium supplemented with FBS (10% ) and penicillin/streptomycin (1% ).
