Cells were isolated from the iliac crest of healthy human adults and were shown, by FACS, to be positive for CD105, CD73, CD90, and CD44.
Cells are grown in medium consisting of: Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM)-F12, penicillin/streptomycin (1%), amphotericin B (2.5 μg/mL), fetal bovine serum (10%). Medium is changed after 48 hours and then twice a week until colonies reach 70% confluence. After first passage, amphotericin B is no longer included in the culture medium.
