This cell line was derived from preimplantation stage embryos that were no longer required for reproductive purposes following in vitro fertilization. Cells are karyotypically normal (XY), express hES-specific cell surface markers and form derivatives of all three germ lineages by teratoma formation.
Maintain cells on mitotically inactivated mouse embryonic fibroblast feeders in Knockout DMEM supplemented with serum replacement (15%), Glutamax (x1), penicillin/streptomycin (x1), nonessential amino acids (1 mM), mercaptoethanol (0.5 mM) and FGF2 (10 ng/ml).
