Reprogrammed human umbilical vein endothelial cells (National Center for Global Health, Tokyo)

This induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line was generated from human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). After seeding and initial culturing, cells were transfected with Sendai virus vectors containing the expression cassettes for Yamanaka’s reprogramming factors. Cells acquired a normal male karyotype.

Cells are cultured on irradiated mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF) layers in DMEM/F12 medium, supplemented with  Knockout Serum Replacement (KSR, 20%), FGF2 (5 ng/ml ),  non-essential amino acids solution (1%), and 2-mercaptethanol (100 μM).
