Generation of adipocytes from adipose tissue-derived stem cells

This protocol describes the generation of adipocyte-like cells from adipose tissue-derived stem cells, by culturing the cells in differentiation medium. The source cell of the protocol exhibits flat fibroblast-like morphology, whereas the differentiated cells contain lipid droplets and are positive for Oil-red-O staining. The differentiated adipocyte-like cells also express adipogenic markers after subcutaneous implantation into athymic mice.
