Generation of pancreatic progenitor cells from clinical-grade human embryonic stem cells

This protocol describes the generation of pancreatic progenitors that form functional islets upon transplantation into diabetic mice. In this protocol, ESI-049 cGMP-approved human embryonic stem cells are used. These cells generate a higher proportion of NKX6.1-expressing cells before transplantation, compared to H1 stem cells, and form mature c-peptide-secreting cells in-vivo.
