Ventral Foregut Endoderm Cells (VFE)

GtT.VFE.VFECs
The ventral foregut endoderm forms from the most anterior region (called region I) of the E7.5 embryonic endoderm and contributes to the development of the liver, gall bladder, ventral pancreatic bud, lungs and stomach.

In vivo only the foregut endoderm (but not the hindgut) is competent to develop into the liver.
