Cranial Tendons Cells (BA1)

Cranial tendon progenitors originate from migrating neural crest cells. The formation of early tendon progenitors is independent of cranial muscle formation as demonstrated by the presence of Scleraxis positive cells at E12.5 in the Tbx1 null mice. However, muscles are required for later tendon differentiation.
