Central Intermediate Lamina Cells (ASJ)

Central intermediate lamina cells form regions of decreased cell density, and are progressively lost via apoptosis, leading to the formation of a joint cavity. The cells produce hyaluronan - a polymer of disaccharides which increases extracellular matrix fluidity.
