Primitive Macrophages (LvB)

Lvr.LvB.pMcrCs

Primitive macrophages are round cells that possess an euchromatic nucleus, with large nucleoli, a poorly developed Golgi apparatus, few cytoplasmic organelles, and an abundance of polyribosomes. They are negative for peroxidase activity.

It has been suggested that these cell migrate from the yolk sac via the blood stream during hematopoiesis, and colonize in the fetal liver during hepatic hematopoiesis.
