Intermediate Beta Progenitor Cells (VPB)

The first insulin producing cells are present from E10.5–E11 in both dorsal and ventral buds, exhibiting low Pdx1 levels, as well as MafB expression which is later replaced by MafA expression in the mature beta cell.
