Mesendoderm Cells (APS)

PrS.APS.MsnCs
Mesendoderm cells pass through the anterior primitive streak and generate two germ lines - the mesoderm and the endoderm.

The axial mesendoderm contains progenitor cells of the anterior definitive endoderm and lateral plate mesoderm and, as such, contains the progenitor cells of both the foregut endoderm, the developmental ancestor of the lungs, liver, pancreas etc., as well as the progenitors of their associated mesoderms.
