HiQCell®, adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction for osteoarthritis
HiQCell® is a mixture of stromal vascular fraction cells, including mesenchymal stem cells, immune modulatory white blood cells, endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells and adipocytes, derived from abdominal adipose. These cells are not expanded and are injected into the knee for treatment of osteoarthritis.
HiQCell treatment is found to be safe and clinically feasible. Treatment induces reduced pain, reduces the increase of CTX-II in the urine, a marker of cartilage breakdown and macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), a biomarker of inflammation and osteoarthritis, decreases. The treatment slows cartilage degradation as shown by MRI.
