Induced pluripotent stem cells for treatment of myocardial infarction
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were epicardially injected into heart infarcted regions of a myocardial infarction mouse model. Using speckle-tracking echocardiography, it was shown that the transplanted cells were integrated in the heart tissue and rescued contractility and dyssynchrony in the infarcted regions.
