Mesenchymal stromal cells for chronic renal failure
The aim of this study was to assess whether intravenous injection of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) could improve renal function and attenuate injury in chronic renal failure. Following intravenous implantation of bone marrow-derived cells in rats with chronic renal failure (induced by 5/6 nephrectomy), no difference in creatinine levels were observed compared to control treatment, but decreased proteinuria and decreases glomerulosclerosis were noted.
