 - Cell Therapy Approaches

Cell-based therapies utilizing embryonic or adult stem cells, including induced pluripotent stem cells, have emerged as potential approaches for several lung diseases, including pulmonary fibrosis. Recent studies have demonstrated paracrine effects of the transplanted cells, such as induction of angiogenesis, immuno-modulation and anti-inflammatory responses, rather than engraftment of the administered cells.
