Bone marrow-derived CD133+ hematopoietic stem cells (Royan Institute)

CD133 is expressed in a substantial sub-population of bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells (BM-HSCs). These cells have potent hematopoietic and angiogenic capacities.

300 mL of bone marrow aspirate were collected from the posterior iliac crest. Mononuclear cells were isolated and CD133 cells were selected from this fraction using ferrite-conjugated CD133 antibody on the CliniMacs. Cell preparations were suspended in 15-20 mL PBS/edetic acid, including 1% human serum albumin. Purity of enriched CD133+ cells ranged from 57-83%, with a total number ranging from 1.5-33.6x10CD133 cells.
