Human bone marrow-derived hematopoietic stem cells CD34+ progenitors express high levels of the cell surface glycoprotein CD34. As these cells mature and differentiate, the levels of CD34 expression decrease. CD34+ progenitors are capable of initiating long-term hematopoiesis both in vitro and in vivo. This cell line is commercially available.
CD34+ progenitor cells are isolated from mononuclear cell samples, by means of positive immunomagnetic selection.
