Peripheral blood-derived hematopoietic stem cells (Northwestern University)

Hematopoietic stem cells derived from the peripheral blood following mobilization, positively selecting for CD34+ cells.

Patient stem cells were mobilized with cyclophosphamide (2 g/m2) and G-CSF (5 or 10 mcg/kg/day, depending on health status). Stem cell harvesting was initiated when the white blood cell count reached 1.0 x10^9/l or until the number of CD34+ cells collected reached a goal of 2.0 x10^6/kg. For most patients, leukapheresis products were enriched by positive selection using Isolex 300iv1.12, Isolex 300iv2.5 or CEPRATE CS stem cell concentrator.
