Chondrocytes embedded in a 3D polymer scaffold (BioSeed®-C) (BioTissue)

A ~250 mg healthy articular cartilage biopsy from a non-weight bearing region of the knee was collected. Chondrocytes were expanded in vitro, under GMP conditions, for 4.5 weeks and then rearranged three dimensionally in a fibrin and a polymer-based scaffold of polyglycolic/polylactic acid (polyglactin, vicryl) and polydioxanone.
