HES-2 cells were generated by isolation of inner cell masses (ICM), which were then plated onto a feeder layer of mouse embryo fibroblasts. Teratomas developed upon inoculation beneath the testis capsule of SCID mice. These teratomas contained tissue representative of all three germ layers. HES-2 karyotype: 46,XX.
