Derivation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells from stem cells using defined medium

A protocol for the derivation of oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) from human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) using defined serum-free medium. The induced OPCs can further differentiate into astrocytes or axon-myelinating-oligodendrocytes (OLs) and improve survival and neurological deficits in myelination-deficient mice.
