Generation of retinal tissue using a three-dimensional culture of mouse embryonic stem cells

A 3 steps protocol for the generation of retinal tissue by construction of a three-dimensional (3D) mouse embryonic stem cells (mESC) culture and use of differentiation media. ESCs quickly reaggregate into embryoid bodies and gradually differentiate into stratified retinal tissue that contains all major components characteristic of the retinal tissue: photoreceptors, ganglion cells, bipolar cells, horizontal cells, amacrine cells and Muller glia.
