Generation of metanephric nephron progenitor cells from human pluripotent stem cells
This protocol describes a method for generation of metanephric mesenchyme progenitor cells from human induced pluripotent stem cells. The differentiated cells express markers specific to metanephric mesenchyme cells and when co-cultured with spinal cord cells, they form nephron components such as glomeruli, proximal tubules, and distal tubules.
This protocol can be modified for use with mouse embryonic stem cells, as indicated in the reference.
