Skeletal muscle samples from type 2 diabetes patients vs. Skeletal muscle samples from controls

Microarray analysis of skeletal muscle samples from type 2 diabetic patients compared to skeletal muscles obtained from normoglycemic subjects with no family history of type 2 diabetes. 

Skeletal muscle samples were obtained from 10 subjects with type 2 diabetes, 25 subjects with a family history of type 2 diabetes (one or both parents), and 15 subjects with no family history of type 2 diabetes.

Muscle biopsies of the vastus lateralis muscle were obtained from fasting donors, after local anesthesia with 1% lidocaine, using a modified Bergstrom needle with suction .
