Basal Keratinocytes (EE)

Epd.EE.BK
Basal keratinocytes are the first cells to form in the embryonic epidermis. These cells are highly proliferative and give rise to all the suprabasal progeny that subsequently undergo terminal differentiation and form all the epidermal layers. Basal keratinocytes are characterized by expression of Krt5 and Krt14.
