Periderm Cells (EE)

Epd.EE.PdCs
Periderm cells emerge at approximately E9.5 and form simple squamous epithelium, the most superficial embryonic layer. These cells form the first, but temporary, embryonic permeability barrier, and are replaced by the cornified envelope, that forms during keratinocyte stratification, by E16.5.
