Branchial arch 3 (BA3) mesoderm derived muscles include: the stylopharyngeus, a muscle in the head that stretches between the styloid process and the pharynx and the constrictor colli (in chick). BA4-derived mesoderm give rise to muscles of the larynx and pharynx (except Stylopharyngeus) and all muscles of soft palate (except Tensor palati).BA6-derived mesoderm derived muscle is sternocleidomastoid.
