Mesencephalic Alar Plate

NT.MAP
The lateral wall of the neural tube is subdivided into two columnar domains: the basal and the alar plate. The mesencephalic alar plate is located in the dorsal part of the mesecephalon wall (close to the roof plate) and, together with the mesencephalic roof plate, gives rise to the tectum, which contains the superior and inferior colliculus.
