Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of ischemic kidney injury
Adipose-derived mesenchymal cells have stem-cell surface markers and multilineage differentiating potential. Adipose-derived mesenchymal cells homed primarily into lung following administration to mice with induced left renal artery ischemia. Repeated administration of adipose-derived mesenchymal cells reduced acute tubular necrosis and interstitial macrophage infiltration in the injured kidney, accompanied with reduced cytokine and chemokine expression.
