The cells are maintained on mitomycin-C-treated STO feeder layers on gelatin-coated culture dishes in DMEM/F12 supplemented with knockout serum replacement (20%), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF; 0.4 ng/ml), L-glutamine (2 mM), nonessential amino acid (1%), β-mercaptoethanol (0.1 mM), penicillin (50 U/ml), and streptomycin (PEST; 50 μg/ml).
