Generation of pancreatic islets from dental pulp stem cells
This protocol describes a method to induce differentiation of dental pulp stem cells (DPSC) and stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED) into pancreatic islet-like clusters (ICCs). These ICCs express pancreatic progenitor markers and secrete insulin in response to glucose stimulation. When transplanted into diabetic mice, encapsulated ICCs promoted normoglycemia.
