Thalamus

The thalamus is a midline symmetrical structure within the brain, located at the base of the cerebral hemispheres, between the third ventricles.  It is a small ovoid mass, about 3cm long. It is responsible for the initial processing of all sensory information, aside from olfaction. 


In mouse, starts to develop at TS 20.
