Preplacodal Lens Ectoderm Cells (OSE)


Eye.OSE.PLECs
Preplacodal lens ectoderm (PPE) cells in the head ectoderm make contact with the distal portion of the optic vesicle and then specify and elongate to form the lens placode. The lens specification genes include pax6, sox2, sox3, and meis1/2, and are activated in the PPE when it makes contact with the optic vesicle.
